Aluminium Race/Street Radiators

With the high output engines fitted in modern production 'sporty' cars, cooling systems are usually adequate, but not engineered with a large safety margin built in to cope with either our harsh conditions and/or modifications.  The most common way of extracting large increases in power output is forced induction :- Turbocharging or Supercharging.  Extra heat is generated with the increased power output, some of it going out the exhaust, some in underneath the bonnet radiation and some into the engine cooling systemu.  With modern aluminium heads now universal and use of aluminium blocks becoming more common, increased temperature travels to the cooling fluid and then into the radiator many times quicker than previously, creating temperature 'spikes'.  The problem is that you don't see these spikes, or quick high peaks, in modern cars because the manufactures have slowed the gauge needle travel speed down many times compared to the old guages. The better these temperature rises and spikes are controlled (quicker heat dissipation), not only will the total power output be higher, but the engine wear will also be decreased, especially the life of the headgasket (even more so in a cast iron block/alloy head engine).  An aluminium core is between 18 and 38% better than copper/brass cores at this and these thicker aluminium cored radiators are even more efficient on top of these figures and when combined with the greatly increased safety of T.I.G. welded aluminium tanks, eliminating the prone to crack crimped on plastic tanks, combine to make these radiators very good value.

If you desire a 'show car' look, or your application is not listed here, contact ARE regarding our custom fabricated all aluminium radiators.

The longetivity of an aluminium core is al least twice that of a copper/brass unit as long as you do not have stray current in the system and you run an appropriate inhibitor, changed at the listed intervals, and never, never, mix with any other inhibitors.  The above applies to any of the 98% of new cars registered in Australia, that now have an aluminium core from the factory.

From the Japanese company, Koyo comes the K-Sport range of full aluminium radiators.  Whether it be for the street or the track there is a K-Sport radiator for most popular imported models...

Note:-

  • All radiators are for manual transmission only

  • Core thickness is 53mm - 2 rows of 23.5mm tubes

  • Fin pitch is 15fpi

  • Tube pitch is 9.5mm
