The hose in the middle is being
sold as silicon turbo hose. Trouble is, it's not a picture of a
hump hose ! It was actually a straight. This is after less than
one months use & it was bulged twice this size on the dyno @10
psi. Check the layers of webbed reinforcing in the other two
brands.
Testing Results from June 2007
The rise of Chinese & similar
products in our market is a double edged sword. If you can
identify good quality, then it can be worthwhile, otherwise,
a lot of people are wasting their money on poor ( in a lot of
cases, very poor) quality! We were offered a new line of
Silicon hoses that are not from China, but are at a very
attractive price. As per our business policy, we have done
testing to determine their quality & suitability, before
stocking. The results are :- if you are running oe & less
than 20 psi, the GT hoses are perfect. If you are running 20 to
30 psi, the GT hoses are very good. If you are running 30 plus
psi., then look at the pictures & you decide. At these
levels I would run SFS on my car.
You almost always don't get
something for nothing. It is the case with the GT hoses. The
manufacturers have not cut down on quality to cut costs, they
have cut down on quantity - their hoses have shorter 'tails' -
the straight part of the hose that clamps to the pipe. If you
need long tails - it's SFS for you. Conversely, most SFS elbow
hoses have enough tail to cut off & use for a straight, thereby
giving three hoses for the price of one. Please check our
pictures in the size/price listing before purchase to be sure
you are paying for what will do the best job at the best value.
Notes to consider :- (1)
-- SFS silicon hose is oe fitment on Ferrari, Ford Motorsport,
Prodrive, Ralliart etc., & is a well known/ used product with a
known & credible track record (2) -- We can not test the long
term durability of the GT hose, but quality looks & feels very
good. (3) -- We know the durability of SFS hose is
excellent, and in these tests, it retained it's shape &
dimensions, time after time. (4) -- The SFS hose has 4-5 layers of
reinforcing, - the GT hose has 3 -5 layers, some of the Chinese
imports have no reinforcing at all. (5) -- this testing
was carried out by myself in our workshop to ARE standards
(which I am happy to repeat, for an hourly fee) & in our
current climate
of litigation & court actions ! (6) -- The testing was
done with cold air pressure, generally the less the quality, the
worse the results under hot pressure.

Graphic proof of poor quality. This

going !! The SFS hose gives the same result time after
time - a quality product. |
